Hindus comprise roughly 8 per cent of Bangladesh’s 170 million folks. Because the ouster of former PM Sheikh Hasina, the brand new military-backed interim authorities led by Mohammed Yunus has confronted criticism for failing to curb a spike in violence towards minorities.

In latest months, Hindu companies, properties, and temples have been vandalised, with the unrest worsening since Sheikh Hasina’s departure.  Earlier this month, sedition fees have been filed towards 19 individuals who participated in a minority rights rally in Chittagong.

“Famend firebrand Hindu Chief; Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu has been kidnapped by the Detective Department at Dhaka Airport in Bangladesh. The interim regime in Bangladesh had introduced plans to unveil an election roadmap, promising reforms within the electoral system. Nevertheless, critics stay sceptical of its dedication to democracy, particularly as studies of focused assaults towards minorities proceed to emerge.

Throughout a speech, Mohammed Yunus pointed to the federal government’s safety measures throughout Durga Puja, celebrated at over 32,000 venues nationwide, as proof of its dedication to defending minorities. But, activists argue these measures are insufficient.
