Vmin Shift Instability Root TriggerÂ
Intel® has localized the Vmin Shift Instability problem to a clock tree circuit throughout the IA core which is especially susceptible to reliability getting older underneath elevated voltage and temperature. Intel has noticed these circumstances can result in an obligation cycle shift of the clocks and noticed system instability. Â
Intel® has recognized 4 (4) working eventualities that may result in Vmin shift in affected processors:Â
1) Motherboard energy supply settings exceeding Intel energy steerage.Â
a. Mitigation: Intel® Default Settings suggestions for Intel® Coreâ„¢ thirteenth and 14th Gen desktop processors. Â
2) eTVB Microcode algorithm which was permitting Intel® Coreâ„¢ thirteenth and 14th Gen i9 desktop processors to function at increased efficiency states even at excessive temperatures.Â
a. Mitigation: microcode 0x125 (June 2024) addresses eTVB algorithm problem. Â
3) Microcode SVID algorithm requesting excessive voltages at a frequency and period which might trigger Vmin shift.Â
a. Mitigation: microcode 0x129 (August 2024) addresses excessive voltages requested by the processor. Â
4) Microcode and BIOS code requesting elevated core voltages which might trigger Vmin shift particularly in periods of idle and/or mild exercise.Â
a. Mitigation: Intel® is releasing microcode 0x12B, which encompasses 0x125 and 0x129 microcode updates, and addresses elevated voltage requests by the processor throughout idle and/or mild exercise intervals. Â
