Minnesota fired Ben Johnson on Thursday morning after 4 years as the pinnacle coach at his alma mater.
The Golden Gophers completed with a 15-17 report (7-13 Massive Ten) after dropping a 72-64 setback to Northwestern on Wednesday within the first spherical of the Massive Ten event. The loss was Minnesota’s fifth in six video games.
Johnson, 44, went 56-71 (22-57 Massive Ten) throughout his 4 seasons with the Golden Gophers.
“These selections are troublesome and are made after cautious consideration and analysis,” Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle mentioned. “The expectation for our program is to compete for championships, and sadly, we have now not achieved that within the final 4 years.”
